Venue Owners - Frequently Asked Questions

What are the connection requirements ?   You will need a DSL or Internet cable access line installed prior to offering Surf2Go services.  You can have this installed by your local telephone provider.  Rates vary but start at around 30 pounds per month plus VAT for a business standard line.

Is there a specific type of broadband that I need ? No, as long as it is 'always on' and supports speeds of at least 512kbps.

Is there a minimum speed of broadband that I need ? Yes - at least 512kbps.

I've got broadband already but I only have one port and my existing PC is using it. What can I do ? That's not a problem. Our Surf2Go access point is also a NAT enabled router and has 4 external ports.  You can use any or all of these, or you can offer them to customers at your site who do not have wireless access cards installed.  These ports support the same authentication and usage restrictions as the wireless network.

I've got broadband and my local machines are all on the LAN. Will they co-exist with the Surf2Go network ? Absolutely.  We can provision your current machines so that they continue to access the Internet as usual, but have the wireless network co-exist in a separate and restricted way.  That way you retain your Internet access and facilities of your office with no security risk - but get to resell the excess bandwidth you don't need to your customers.

What about security between my existing network and the potential Surf2Go customers ? Devices using the Surf2Go network are explicitly restricted in that they cannot access any private networks - so they can access the Internet but they can't access your machines.

How many customers can I expect to use this service ? The system supports up to 50 simultaneous customers at anytime.  Your actual usage will depend upon the type and volume of customer your currently have.  Your Surf2Go representative can discuss potential sell rates with you when they visit your premises.

When can we get started ?  Within a day or two of getting your Internet connection installed we'll have you up and running - making money by selling the service.

Who supports customers who have problems connecting ? We do.  Your staff should not have to be experts in network management or wireless access - that's our job.  Customers whose issues are not resolved on the spot will be offered the option of completing a customer feedback form which will be collected from your venue, or mailed directly to us.
